About Author
Lynn Thomas
Lynn Thomas spent his life turning hard things into hope—and making people laugh along the way. An Alabama native, he made a career in information technology, earning Microsoft, Novell, and CompTIA certifications and working as an I.T. manager before disability brought him home to be near family. Faith was his compass: saved at thirteen and baptized later in life, Lynn wrote openly about prayer, grace, and everyday kindness.
Born with spina bifida and a tethered spinal cord, Lynn underwent more than thirty surgeries and lived with a colostomy and urostomy—cheerfully nicknamed “Lenny” and “Squiggy.” He could walk, garden, drive long country highways for doctor visits, and swap classic-rock trivia with anyone who’d listen. He loved his dog Tommy, The Andy Griffith Show, and the small Southern rituals of diners, church pews, and front-porch talk. Friends called him “a nice guy in a mean world,” and he tried to prove them right with simple generosity and a stubborn joy.
Lynn began chronicling his days in a plainspoken journal he called “Walking with Spina Bifida.” Those entries—equal parts humor, grit, and gratitude—became Letters from Lynn: A Journey of Faith, Laughter, and Survival. After his passing from complications of spina bifida, his mother gathered these pages so readers could keep walking with him, one honest, hope-soaked story at a time.
